Business leader. Community builder. Husband and father. Kristian Chan has spent his career bringing people together, managing resources and turning plans into results. Now he wants to put that experience to work for Ward 3.
ABOUT KRISTIAN
For more than 20 years, Kristian and his wife have called Markham home. It is where they have raised their three daughters, built friendships and become part of the community they care deeply about.
Being a husband and father has shaped how Kristian thinks about community: the neighbourhoods our children grow up in, the schools they attend, the roads families travel every day, and whether Markham remains a place where the next generation can build a life of their own.
His career leading teams, developing businesses and managing budgets has given him the experience to turn plans into results and follow through on the work that matters.

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP
Kristian has seen what happens when people are given a reason to participate, contribute and take ownership of their community.
As Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus at St. Patrick's Parish, Kristian worked alongside volunteers to grow annual fundraising from approximately $30,000 to more than $60,000, supporting charitable causes, families, schools and organizations throughout the community.
By helping build a stronger community among parents and families at his daughter's school, Kristian helped create an environment where people wanted to participate, contribute and take ownership. Together, that community now raises more than $50,000 each year.
A PRINCIPLE FOR A CHANGING WARD
Ward 3 is changing. New development, increasing traffic and pressure on roads, infrastructure, parks and recreation require thoughtful decisions. Growth has to come with the infrastructure and services to support it. Existing residents shouldn't be left paying the price for poor planning. Kristian believes growth should make Ward 3 better, not simply bigger.
A CLEAR FOCUS
Kristian wants Ward 3 to remain a welcoming place where young families put down roots, children grow up safely, seniors stay connected and neighbours care about what happens next.
Infrastructure has to keep pace. Growth is part of Markham's future, but roads, parks, recreation and City services need to grow with it while protecting the neighbourhoods people already love.
Less reacting. Better planning. Traffic, congestion and road safety affect daily life, and Kristian wants earlier action before transportation and infrastructure problems become crises.
Residents, community organizations, local businesses and the City should be at the table earlier. Stronger solutions come from the people who live with these issues every day.
Visible. Accessible. Accountable. A Councillor should stay connected to the community, not simply appear when there is a problem or when an election approaches.

WHY I'M RUNNING
Kristian isn't running because he believes one Councillor has every answer. He's running because he knows how to listen, build a plan, bring the right people together and follow through.
He has seen that approach work in business. He has seen it work in his daughter's school community. And he has seen it work alongside volunteers at St. Patrick's.
